The Cats – Band Members & Short Biography
The Mean Eyed Cats are Lee Gillett (guitar, harmonica, vocals & stomp box), and John Drake (bass guitar and vocals). Both have been active on the local music scene for many years, most recently as part of CashBack, a Johnny Cash tribute band that achieved national and international recognition in 2008.
The duo still play a few Johnny Cash songs, but also play many other songs from the 50’s onwards including songs made famous by Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Mavericks, The Eagles, Creedance Clearwater Revival, The Hollies, The Specials and many more (see full current set list here).
Although a duo, The Mean Eyed Cats make a very full, band-like sound due to both guys making vocal contributions, and the addition of harmonica and percussion “stomp box” to their guitar and bass line up.
